Transaera’s co-founders Ross Bonner and Sorin Grama were tapped to provide insight into how air conditioners actually work for a New York Times reader quiz titled “Do you know how to keep your home cool?”
It’s a good reminder of something we think about constantly at Transaera: most people assume an AC just makes cold air. It does not. It moves heat outside and pulls moisture out of the air, and that second process is the most energy intensive. In humid climates, dehumidification alone can eat up more than half the energy a system uses. That’s the exact problem we built our technology to solve!
